Beijing
- The Buddhist Association of China has expressed its condolence over
the heavy loss of lives and property to the tsunami-hit countries.
In a message sent over to the tsunami-ravaged
countries, the association said that on behalf of Chinese Buddhists,
it wishes toexpress sincere sympathy and solicitude to the people
in those countries and heartfelt condolences over the disaster victims.
The message was sent to eight countries:
Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Malaysia
and Maldives.
As the main Buddhism principle of
loving kindness, sharing happiness and sufferings with all living
beings, "Chinese Buddhists also experience the disaster you
have suffered," it said.
"We believe that your country
and people will certainly overcome the hardships and rebuild your
homeland," it said.
According to Sheng Hui, vice president
of the association, the association has called on Chinese Buddhist
circles to hold prayer services for no more disasters.
"Whenever a country suffers heavy
natural disasters, we should extend our hands to support them,"
he said, adding that Chinese Buddhists are carrying out a donation
move to that effect. [XINHUA]
