พ่อค้าเร่คนหนึ่ง พาลาของเขาไปที่ชายทะเลเพื่อซื้อเกลือ
เส้นทางกลับบ้าน ของเขานั้น ต้องข้ามลำธาร
ลาบรรทุกเกลือมาก้าวพลาด ล้มลงโดยบังเอิญ
พอลุกขึ้นมา ของที่บรรทุกมานั้น เบาขึ้นเป็นอันมาก
เพราะน้ำทำให้เกลือ ในกระสอบละลายไปจนหมด
พ่อค้าเร่กลับมาซื้อเกลือใส่ลงไปใหม่
จำนวนมากกว่าเก่า เมื่อมาถึงลำธาร
ลาแกล้งล้มลงที่จุดเดิม
เมื่อยืนขึ้น น้ำหนักของที่บรรทุก มาลดลงไปมาก
มันร้องอย่างได้รับชัยชนะ เหมือนกับว่า ได้สิ่งที่ปรารถนา
พ่อค้าเร่ เห็นเล่ห์กลของลา
จึงพามันกลับมาที่ชายทะเลอีกเป็นครั้งที่สาม
คราวนี้ เขาซื้อสินค้าที่เป็นฟองน้ำแทนที่จะซื้อเกลือ
ลาเล่นเกมส์โง่ๆ อีกครั้ง คือแกล้งล้มลงเมื่อมาถึงลำธารสายเดิม
ฟองน้ำนั้นดูดซับน้ำจนอิ่มตัว เพิ่มน้ำหนักขึ้นไปอีกมาก
ดังนั้น เล่ห์กลของลา กลับเล่นงานตัวมันเอง
เพราะขณะนี้ น้ำหนักบนหลังของลา เพิ่มขึ้นเป็นสองเท่านั่นเอง



The Assลา Loaded with Saltเกลือ

There was once a huckster พ่อค้าเกลือ who kept ควบคุม an ass,
and when he heard that some cheap salt เกลือ was being sold ขาย
at the seasideชายทะเล, he drove his ass there to buy ซื้อ some.
After having loaded the ass with as much salt as it could carry ขน,
the huckster drove him home alongside a slippery ลื่น ledge of rock,
การโยก until the ass accidentallyโดยบังเอิญ fell into the river below.

with even more salt than before. On their way home,
